The girls had a had a tough start to the tournament, dropping a close 0-1 match to familiar USYS National League D1 opponent, Alexandria SA 2012 NL. However, the girls bounced back that evening with an exciting 2-1 win against Eagle FC 11G, another USYS National League D1 opponent. Attacking midfielder, Anabela R., recorded a brace, whihc was enough to advance the girls to a semi-final the following morning, where they would face the top seed from the other side of the backet.
On the other side of the bracket, the Maryland Rush 12G team, playing up an age group, swept their group stage games, posting a 1-0 win against Alexandria SA 2011 NL and a convincing 2-0 win against SYC 2011G GA II, who plays in the USYS National League D1 (U14).
The semi-final match was a club derby, with our MD Rush 2012G girls battling against the MD Rush 2011G team. Anabela R. started off the scoring after scoring a laser from the top of the box. Shortly after, Masha K. got on the board to put the Rush up 2-0. Shortly ino the second half, Alexandria battled back and picked up a goal, however, it was not enough to overtake the Rush. with roughly 2 minutes left, Gianna P. netted the game-winner to seal the deal.
