About Maryland Rush Montgomery
The Maryland Rush Montgomery (MRM, MSYSA Club #1061), a 501(c)(3) organization, formely known as Seneca Soccer Association (SSA), sponsors both boys and girls youth soccer teams in the travel leagues of the Metropolitan Washington DC area. These are primarily the National Premier League (NPL)/Eastern Development Program (EDP), National Capital Soccer League (NCSL) for boys and the Washington Area Girls Soccer League (WAGS) for girls, but we also have teams playing in the Region 1/Colonial League, Super Y, BBSL, and OBSL.
Our Maryland Rush Montgomery teams are based in the Central West District of Maryland, primarily from the Seneca Soccer Association in Montgomery County that became part of Maryland Rush in the Spring of 2012.
Players on the various teams, however, come from all over Maryland and parts of Virginia, Delaware and Pennsylvania, so players are by no means limited to one location or the other. Also note that under Maryland Rush's club-based approach to player development, players can move between teams within the club and are not limited to their specific age group.
In the Spring of 2012 Seneca Soccer Association entered into a partnership with Maryland Rush and the Rush Soccer organization. Growing from the Colorado Rush, Rush Soccer is a nationally and internationally recognized youth soccer organization with over 40,000 players in over 40 soccer clubs around the US and the world. Rush has a cooperating system to share training, coaching programs, several proven player development programs and expanded player and team opportunities. As a result of this partnership the new name of our club is Maryland Rush Montgomery.
The two clubs will have a coaching staff that will work on player development, team development as well as overall club development. This will be a great opportunity to share players as well as staff between different teams in the club.
As part of its membership, Maryland Rush Montgomery players will be eligible to participate in a variety of Rush activities, including Maryland Rush elite teams; Rush tournaments; the Rush Player Loan program; the Rush College Advisory Program; the Rush Select program, where Rush Soccer forms select teams (All-Star teams) that are comprised of the top Rush players from across the country at the U13-U17 age groups. These teams attend various events on a yearly basis; and the annual RushFest, which brings together Rush teams from all across the country. Teams compete against each other in a friendly format, as well as join together to participate in training sessions, getting specific training sessions from the top coaches in the country.
Since 1984, MRM has a long-standing philosophy of autonomous control by the member teams. We offer a club environment that encourages self-determination by our individual teams and promote the viewpoint that there is no single formula for success in youth soccer. Participation, growth, friendships -- these are the measures of a successful youth soccer experience and create a lifelong love of "the Beautiful Game".
